Abstract
This article examines the changing role of angel funds in India’s start-up economy, looking at both financial contributions and the regulatory environment that surrounds them. By offering financial support along with networking opportunities, mentorship, and strategic advice, angel funds have become an essential source of early-stage capital and have helped to fuel the flourishing start-up ecosystem. Through an in-depth analysis of reforms such as angel tax abolition and SEBI’s consultation papers, this article analyses the trajectory of angel investing in India. The findings demonstrate the role angel funds play in fostering new ventures while the changing regulatory landscape aims to establish a more stable environment for both the investors and start-ups.
